John Halamka, MD
One of Justin’s first guests of the day will be John D. Halamka, MD, MS (@jhalamka). Dr. Halamka is Chief Information Officer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Chairman of the New England Healthcare Exchange Network (NEHEN), Member of the HIT Standards Committee, a full Professor at Harvard Medical School, and a practicing Emergency Physician. Justin recently interviewed Dr. Halamka along with Paul Cerrato regarding their new book, “Realizing the Promise of Precision Medicine.”

Rasu Shrestha, MD, MBA
A little after noon, Justin will chat with Rasu Shrestha, MD, MBA (@RasuShrestha), Chief Innovation Officer, UPMC and Executive Vice President, UPMC Enterprises. As chief innovation officer for UPMC, Dr. Shrestha plays a leading role in driving UPMC’s innovation strategy, serving as a catalyst for transforming the organization into a more patient-focused and economically sustainable system. Dr. Shrestha also serves as the executive vice president of UPMC Enterprises, the innovation and commercialization arm of UPMC. Dr. Shrestha has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the 26 “Smartest People in Health IT,” and InformationWeek named him one of the “Top 20 Health IT Leaders Driving Change” and a “Top Healthcare Innovator.”

Paul Black
After speaking with Paul Cerrato, Justin will interview Dr. Halamka Paul Black, Allscripts Chief Executive Officer (@Allscripts). Paul was appointed CEO in December 2012 after having served on Allscripts Board of Directors for eight months. As Chief Executive Officer, Paul leads the direction of the company and its global commitment to delivering an Open, Connected Community of HealthTM.

Genevieve Morris
As he has done at previous HIMSS Conferences, Justin will interview the current Principal Deputy National Coordinator for Health Information Technology HHS/ONC. This year that interview will be with Genevieve Morris (@HITpolicywonk). Ms. Morris previously worked with ONC in a variety of areas such as policy, standards and technology, and grant programs. Among her outputs were reports to support the State Health Information Exchange Program, including reports on consumer engagement in health information exchange, provider directories, and query-based health information exchange. Most notably, Ms. Morris supported the development of the Shared Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap, including writing and editing portions of the roadmap. This important document provides guidance to all health IT stakeholders on the actions that must be taken in order to achieve a truly interoperable learning health system.

Aneesh Chopra
Aneesh Chopra (@aneeshchopra) has been a guest on Justin’s HIMSS Show for several years in a row now and this year, following Rasu Shrestha’s interview, Justin will have the opportunity once again to pick his brain. Aneesh Chopra is the President of CareJourney (@CareJourney), an open data intelligence service launched by Hunch Analytics, a “hatchery” he co-founded incubating ideas that improve the productivity of health and education markets. From 2009-2012, he served as the first U.S. Chief Technology Officer and prior to that, as Virginia’s 4th Secretary of Technology.
