Wellness Wednesday – Every Kid Healthy Week with Nurse Lauren

Apr 21, 2021 | Posted by Maureen | Healthy Living, Nurse Lauren |

Follow and join the conversation with #EveryKidHealthyWeek and #takeaction4healthykids

April 26 – 30, 2021 is Every Kid healthy Week. In addition to the resources and activities surrounding this particular celebration, organizations around the world are creating resources and content focused on health and wellness for children. About 87 percent of the world’s students (1.5 billion learners) have been affected by school closings. Less time in school and doing extra curricular activities has increased screen time and decreased movement and exercise.

Every Kid Healthy Week
Next week is Every Kid Healthy Week presented by Action for Healthy Kids, (@Act4HlthyKids) a national nonprofit that brings together dedicated volunteers and partners to make schools healthier places where kids thrive. Their mission is to create healthier home and school environments where every child has access to safe places to play, nutritious food to eat, and healthy experiences to help them thrive.

Have you started planning your #EveryKidHealthyWeek yet? We’ve got plenty of resources & activities at https://t.co/JBjEFTEh1Z. Use our ideas or brainstorm w/ your kids/students to create your own! Either way, register your plans to be entered to win a gift card.

— ActionforHealthyKids (@Act4HlthyKids) April 9, 2021

At school, Every Kid Healthy Week events should promote and reinforce healthy habits, good nutrition, emotional health and physical activity. At home, Help celebrate Every Kid Healthy Week by promoting emotional wellness, good nutrition, and physical activity with your own family – healthy habits start at home. Each day of the week next week has a theme: Mindful Monday, Tasy Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday, Fitness Friday. It is important for kids to take care of both  their bodies and their minds. Click here for resources, ideas and activities.

This is Nurse Lauren, contributor of NursesNOW, signing off with your Wellness Wednesday tip! Next week remember to get the kids you love in your life moving and celebrating Every Kid Healthy Week!

ICYMI – My other Blog posts, plus Nurses NOW Weekly Roundups and Friday Fives.
