The Friday Five – World Sepsis Day 9/13/21

September 10, 2021 Posted by Annmarie Budniak HIT Feed

Follow and join the conversation with #sepsis, #StopSepsis, #WorldSepsisDay and #SepsisAwarenessMonth.

World Sepsis Day is an initiative by the Global Sepsis Alliance (@SepsisAlliance) and was established in 2012. The GSA is a non-profit charity organization with the mission to provide global leadership to reduce the worldwide burden of sepsis. Every year on September 13th, countless events raising awareness of sepsis are organized all over the world. This week’s Friday Five highlights some of these events, offers opportunities for learning and provides information about sepsis.

It’s officially #SepsisAwarenessMonth! Not only does today mark the first day of this important observance, but it also marks the 10th anniversary of the very first Sepsis Awareness Month in 2011. How will you help us spread sepsis awareness in September?https://t.co/kk0tVL0s8d pic.twitter.com/luR6AryNep

Bridging Gaps in Post-Sepsis Care for Survivors

A patient’s health care journey does not end after they are treated for sepsis. Survivors deal with the effects of sepsis long after they are discharged from the hospital. Up to 50% of sepsis survivors suffer severe and lasting effects, including early death, within the following three years. Seriously ill COVID-19 survivors have sepsis and face these long-term sequelae.

Join BC Sepsis Network and UBC Action on Sepsis Research Cluster for their webinar and discover how local and international patients and care providers experience post-sepsis by attending a panel discussion: from acute care, discharge planning to transitioning to the community.

Up to 50% of sepsis survivors suffer from long-term physical and/or psychological effects. Learn more about post-sepsis care with an upcoming learning opportunity on #WorldSepsisDay, September 13. Learn more & register: https://t.co/ZYu9tylxII #StopSepsis pic.twitter.com/upNsR1HQeF
