Friday Five – We Give You Green

March 17, 2023 Posted by Annmarie Budniak Celebrations - Awareness, HIT Feed

Erin go bragh and top o’ the mornin’ to ya. We’re going green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day for this week’s Friday Five. Each of our five items connects to our theme of green in some way whether ’tis green foods to eat, ribbons to wear,  comforting shades of green in hospitals, health care systems going green to help the environment, or medtech investments in the motherland, you can read about here.

Green: The Most Suitable Color for Hospital Textiles

According to BC Medical Journal (@BCMedicalJrnl) for a number of physical, physiological, and psychological reasons, the most appropriate color for a hospital environment is green. It is the predominant color of hospital textiles and fabrics, including sheets, coverings, towels, cases, patient’s clothing, coats, aprons, scrubs, gowns, drapes, furniture covers, curtains, and partitions. How did this come to be?

Green Ribbon for Mental Health Awareness

The green ribbon is the international symbol of mental health awareness. Wear a green ribbon to show colleagues, loved ones or simply those you walk past that you care about their mental health. It can also be worn in memory of a loved one.

Why are so Many Medical Device Companies Making Big Investments in Ireland?

According to MassDevice Medical Network (@MassDevice) within recent years, a number of major medtech companies celebrated anniversaries. Abbott’s was 70 years, Medtronic’s was 40 and Boston Scientific’s was 25. That’s how long those companies have operated in Ireland.

The Best Green Foods To Eat & Why They’re So Good For You

You often hear that it’s best to incorporate a lot of greens into your diet, so Nature Made (@naturemade) takes a look at why naturally green foods are so good for you, which ones are the best for you, what nutrients are in each, and how to add them into your diet.

Practice Greenhealth – Sustainability Solutions for Health Care

Practice Greenhealth (@pracgreenhealth) is the leading membership and networking organization for sustainable health care, delivering environmental solutions to hospitals and health systems across the United States. Practice Greenhealth is the health care sector’s go-to source for information, tools, data, resources, and expert technical support on sustainability initiatives that help hospitals and health systems meet their health, financial, and community goals.
