Known as the “Health IT Rock Star,” Susan’s 25-year career has spanned from her beginnings at a clinic front desk to managed care operations, EHR implementation, privacy and security, health information management, health information exchange, Medicaid and public health technology, and federal & state policy and advocacy. This diverse background has formed the perfect stage for Susan to observe the entire healthcare ecosystem, enabling her to transcend traditional silos with an understanding of the dependencies and impacts on multiple stakeholders. Susan’s most recent roles have involved connecting state stakeholders to achieve state programmatic goals, primarily within Medicaid and social services by optimizing federal funding for technology.
2: The Identity Issue: What’s New in Patient Identity and Matching
For the most up to date thinking and considerations regarding both identity and patient matching, including through a privacy and security lens.
Kyle is a visionary cryptography engineering leader, who was instrumental in revitalizing the vision and mission at SAFE Identity (formerly SAFE-BioPharma Association). DirectTrust acquired the assets of SAFE Identity in 2021. Kyle continues to actively develop new and existing technical standards on public-key cryptography, blockchain cryptography, key management, and multi-factor authentication for both government and private sectors. His passion for identity lies within the vision of the future and enabling identity between geographical regions and political regimes for the benefit of humanity as we transcend into an increasingly digital way of life.
3: Popular and Emerging Use Cases for Interoperability
Popular and emerging interoperability use cases complementary to and separate from TEFCA as we put the interoperability puzzle together.
As DirectTrust’s Senior Director of Community Strategy, Kathryn Ayers Wickenhauser, MBA, CHPC, CHTS, is responsible for leading communication, membership, and advocacy efforts. Prior to joining DirectTrust in 2019, she led thought leadership and content efforts for a health information management company, sharing best practices for healthcare professionals through speaking at numerous events like MGMA and AHIMA a year. Her experience also includes managing a compliance department, coaching practices through incentive programs, working in ambulatory practices, and providing user training for EHRs.
4: Engaging Patients, Consumers, and Care Partners in Interoperability
Interoperability centers around the idea of information exchange to benefit patients, yet we frequently don’t center or involve patients, consumers, or care partners in our conversations. Hear about how to further consider and engage these key stakeholders.
