News You Can Use with hosts Dr. Nick & Dr. Craig. Tune in each month for healthcare news that Dr. Nick and Dr. Craig think you should know and what you can use. On this Special Edition episode: Skin Cancer Alternative Treatment Option with Joeseph Sardano, CEO at Sensus Healthcare. There is a “new” alternative to surgery for treating skin cancer. Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT) uses photon radiotherapy that penetrates only 5mm to treat skin cancer without cutting, bleeding, or scarring. Comparable cure rates matching the gold standard of Mohs surgery. For many patients, this is a better patient experience with no stitches, no healing downtime, and no activity restrictions. Patients can golf, swim, and live normally during the 3–4 week treatment course. Good news as it is now covered by Medicare as SRT has its own CPT code, making reimbursement clear for dermatologists and affordable for patients. So for those with this diagnosis, have the conversation and ask your dermatologist about new options available.
