The Current and Future State of Interoperability
Virtual Panel Discussion on the Current and Future State of Industry-wide Interoperability
When: Tuesday, November 13, 2018
Time: 2:00 – 3:15 pm ET
The march towards full Interoperability has been a goal for the industry for years now. The HITECH Act, MACRA and the 21st Century Cures Act are major pieces of legislation designed, in part, to advance Interoperability across the healthcare spectrum. Challenges persist, of course, but are all the puzzle pieces to solving these challenges coming together?
On our 3rd Annual Virtual Panel Discussion, we bring together four industry thought leaders to discuss the current and future path to Interoperability from three angles: Legislative, Technical and Financial.
Our thought leaders bring a wide variety of expertise and knowledge to this conversation and include:
- Jitin Asnaani, Executive Director CommonWell Health Alliance
- Chuck Christian, Vice President, Technology and Engagement, Indiana Health Information Exchange
- Dave Lareau, CEO Medicomp Systems
- Chris Muir, Director, Standards Division, ONC
Once again on hand to moderate this webcast event is healthcare attorney and radio host of Harlow on Healthcare, David Harlow (@HealthBlawg).
Here is a small sampling of questions David will be moderating:
- How will CMS’ renaming of the EHR Incentive Program to the Promoting Interoperability Program impact providers’ actions?
- How can we make shared data more usable to providers at the point of care using new exchange standards?
- How do we address providers’ concerns that interoperability is of limited financial value?
- How does Interoperability align with value-based care objectives?
Check out the bios of our panelists and moderator below and be sure to register today for this special webinar event before we reach full capacity for virtual attendance.
Jitin Asnaani, CommonWell Health Alliance
Jitin is the first Executive Director of CommonWell Health Alliance and is charged with stewarding CommonWell as it pursues its mission of building a scalable infrastructure that enables health data to follow the patient, regardless of where care occurs.
Prior to CommonWell, Jitin was a director at athenahealth, where he focused on building the company’s cloud-based interoperability platform. Jitin represented athenahealth in Federal Advisory Committees, CommonWell Health Alliance, the Argonaut Project and DirectTrust.org.
Chuck Christian, CHIME and Indiana HIE
Chuck Christian’s commitment to the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives ( CHIME) predates his present position as a vice president at the Indiana Health Information Exchange in Indianapolis, his two-year stint as a vice president and CIO at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga., and goes well into his 23-year tenure at Good Samaritan Hospital in Indiana.
Chuck is vice president of technology and engagement at the Indiana Health Information Exchange, which operates the nation’s largest interorganizational clinical data repository.
Dave Lareau, Medicomp Systems
David Lareau is CEO of Medicomp Systems. Dave joined Medicomp in 1995 and has responsibility for operations and product management, including customer relations and marketing.
Prior to joining Medicomp, Lareau founded a company that installed management communication networks in large enterprises such as The World Bank, DuPont and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Lareau’s work at Sinai led to the founding of a medical billing company that led, in turn, to his partnership with Medicomp.
Christopher Muir, ONC
Chris joined the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) in January 2007. He has worked in state and federal government for over 25 years.
Currently, Chris works within ONC’s Office of Technology as the Standards Division Director. Prior to this position, Chris was the Director for the State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Program in which ONC awarded over $500 million in grants to enable health information exchange in each state. Previous to ONC, Chris was the Strategic Projects Manager for the State of Arizona, CIO’s Office.
