Studies, Surveys and Reports: What Can We Learn?

July 20, 2026 Posted by Annmarie Budniak Reports

We have rounded up some reports and surveys from around the industry that we thought were of interest.

Featured Report: Fortified Health Security’s 2026 Mid-Year Horizon Report

Healthcare organizations are getting better at finding cyber risks, but many are struggling to fix them fast enough. In its 2026 Mid-Year Horizon Report, Fortified Health Security analyzed rolling NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 assessment data to examine how healthcare organizations are managing cybersecurity readiness in the first half of the year. The findings show a widening gap between risk visibility and remediation, with the overall risk remediation rate dropping to 6.4% and critical and high-risk findings increasing 60% year over year. The report points to a growing challenge for healthcare: turning awareness into action before unresolved risks affect operations and patient care.

Why Healthcare Contact Centers Are Stuck with “Good Enough”

PerfectServe®, a healthcare technology company specializing in unified clinical communication and provider scheduling solutions, published a report with findings that highlight the most pressing technology challenges facing healthcare contact centers. The data paints a picture of unwieldy and disconnected tech stacks that come with a high maintenance burden, make it hard to train and retain operators, and often damage patient experiences.

How Patient Access Technology Can Simplify the Patient Care Journey

Surescripts®, the nation’s leading health intelligence network, released a new report with the results of a national survey of 1,007 U.S. adults conducted by The Harris Poll, revealing that more than half (56%) of patients experience challenges when accessing prescriptions, citing cost, delays and prior authorizations as significant barriers.

From Patient to Participant: What a Survey of Peptide Users Reveals About the Future of Healthcare

The way people manage their health is changing. A growing number of individuals are no longer waiting for a diagnosis, a referral, or institutional permission to take action. They’re researching their own biology, building their own protocols, and making informed decisions outside the traditional patient-provider relationship. BioLongevity Supplements surveyed 586 peptide users to understand what’s driving this shift. The findings suggest that the growing surge of interest in peptides is not a fringe phenomenon. Instead, it’s connected to a broader, data-supported decline in institutional trust and a parallel rise in what their calling the participant model of health: one in which individuals take ownership of their own outcomes.

AI in Practice

Artificial intelligence (AI) is already delivering measurable value in healthcare. Adoption among care teams is moving quickly, but effective use depends on how well health systems can adapt. In the largest global survey of its kind, the Future Health Index 2026 reveals the real-world impact of AI as reported by more than 2,000 healthcare professionals and 20,000 patients, and it uncovers what is needed to scale these gains.

The Communication Chasm: Why Mothers Feel Lost in the System and How Health Plans Can Help

More communication doesn’t necessarily mean better communication for pregnant women and new mothers, according to new independent research from Sage Growth Partners (Sage), a national healthcare growth strategy and marketing firm.  Sage has released The Communication Chasm: Why Mothers Feel Lost in the System and How Health Plans Can Help, the second report in its State of Maternal & NICU Care 2026 research series. Based on a survey of 300 recently pregnant women and 50 health plan leaders, the report reveals a significant disconnect between the maternity resources health plans provide and how well members understand and value the information they receive.

The Provider Directory Experience 2025

At a time when insurance plan members rely more and more on digital health resources, the task of keeping provider directories up to date is growing more complex. Providers struggle to deliver information to dozens of health plans – and, on the receiving end, those payers often lack the resources to process the data quickly. The 2025 findings reveal a widening gap between member expectations and the realities of data accuracy. Most respondents rely on directories to make highstakes decisions. Yet, a significant number report running into errors that disrupt care, cause financial confusion, or erode confidence in the health plan.

2025 State of Claims

Health claims are [still] stuck in a cycle of denials, delays and data errors. Artificial Intelligence could break the loop, but is healthcare ready to trust it? Can healthcare survive without it? An Experian Health Survey strives to answer these questions.

Digital Experience Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All: How High-Impact Health Events Are Reshaping Member Trust

Recently released survey data from mPulse reveals where patient trust is built, and broken, across critical, high-stress moments in the healthcare journey. From navigating care decisions to receiving support during important events, specific touchpoints shape confidence in a health plan. Understanding where trust is built and where it is threatened is critical to improving the patient experience. The findings from 1,000 consumers show that moments of confusion, delayed communication, and lack of clear guidance can quickly erode confidence, while timely, relevant support can strengthen it.
